Employment experience
During the first 10 years I worked for large contractors on major projects. Most of which were over $100 million dollars. One employed over 700 workers.
During this period through successive promotion I saw my role change from site engineer, through sub-agent, site manager and on to project manager.
In December 1999 I was the youngest project manager employed by the UK’s largest contractor.
I subsequently spent two years as a bid manager/estimator for public private partnership contracts. Taking bids from enquiry to contract.
This work involved design management, estimating, construction planning and contract negotiation.
During this period I helped secure over $1 billion in contracts.
For much of the next eight years I was employed as a consultant to private developers and contractors.
Specialising in construction management and quantity surveying.
From 2009 to 2016 I was employed in the public sector. Firstly, in the UK where I led a $800 million dollar building programme. Later, managing the education estate serving 98,000 children.
In 2012 I was appointed as a Project Director for the Major Facilities rebuild unit of the Christchurch City Council.
After four years in post I moved back into the private sector where I now provide independent expert consultancy.
